Sunday 19th June 2016
Johnson Hall, Stapleford CB22 5SY
The focus of the retreat will be our inner sense. This has called many things – the small, still voice; the felt sense; the body’s dashboard; gut feeling. It is made up of many unfolding sensations – fullness, emptiness, a beating heart, release of the chest.
Using relaxed introspection, conversation and simple movement we will explore our inner sense of self and the links with well-being.
In particular, we will investigate the inner organs that shout the loudest – the gut and stomach, and how mindful enquiry can promote bodily release and nourishing food choices.
The morning will be slow-paced and rejuvenating and you will take away new ways to listen to your body and integrate these into daily life:
- Specific relaxation of the abdominal organs
- Techniques to sense true fullness and hunger (and the science behind how our appetite is formed)
- Ways to use an awareness of inner sensation to deepen movement practise (e.g. yoga, Pilates, qigong)
- The opportunity to nourish yourself through rest, movement and companionship
If the weather is kind we may move into the hall garden to integrate inner awareness with the textures and sensations of the open air (rugs/shade provided).
Numbers are limited to 12, suitable for all, no experience or ability necessary.
Movements will be gentle and based on qigong, Pilates, yoga and somatics. The morning will include a guided relaxation and a tea break. Come on your own or bring a friend.
Online bookings for this event are being taken at our sister website Movement Space.
